“The Message 1”

“The bronze bas-reliefs (pronounced baah relief) are wall pieces. They are defined as ‘a sculpture in which the figures protrude slightly from the background.’ They are also described as ‘low reliefs’.

We thought of the bas-reliefs as perfect for settings where freestanding sculpture is not a possibility, and as potential architectural pieces to be incorporated into new construction…We included the same types of animal motifs that we use in our sgraffito drawings on sculpture, as well as in the embossed areas of our paintings.”
