“The Long March”

“In many areas of the Rocky Mountains, the land is bare of vegetation, and Gene often said that he loved those areas because he could see the bones of the mountains. In The Long March, he connected the migrating line of pronghorn antelope to the land, but in such a way as to merely suggest the bones and structure of the animals. Zuni is the lead antelope from the group, presented as a solo animal.”
