“Terracotta Rains”
by: Sandra Brestel$1,050.00
“As the sun rises above the distant mountains, its life-giving light begins once again to warm these ancient images. The terracotta colored rocks seem to glisten in the early light as a breeze swirls along the canyon wall. The awakening breeze brings with it a great life force carried across mountains and plains. Native Americans recognized this energy and magic within all of
nature. This magical energy is not just carried in the wind but it is present within the trees, plans and animals. And of course, this life giving magic flows from the heavens in the form of rain.A rain deity appears to float above this rust colored landscape of rock, and beneath his outstretched arm falls a shower of rain. Etched into the rock, the graceful arc of a rainbow appears above his head. The images of figures with upturned feet is a depiction of people walking in mud. There is also a maze plant linked to a terraced cloud shape, topped by a bird symbol. Bird magic is important because it enhances the shaman’s power of soul flight. All of these symbols are
related to the need for rain fall and crop growth.”
