“Shaman of the Promised Light”
Bill Worrell
There are many stimuli that can enter into the inspiration for a work of art, be it a painting, a sculpture, a writing, or a song. Some of them are agony, and some of them are ecstasy, or perhaps a blend of both. A friend, named Charlie Shedd, was the force behind “Shaman of the Promised Light”, and the words and lyrics that are inscribed on the back of the sculpture.
You were a rainbow this morning
Shining on my life.
You were a rainbow this morning
My colorful surprise.
There were storm clouds all around me
Your smile took them away –
You were a rainbow this morning
To lighten up my day.
If it weren't for my friends, Lord
I don't know what I'd do,
And I have never known
A friend more true that you.
Every time there is trouble
You always see me through.
If it weren't for my friends, Lord
I don't know what I'd do.
I hope and I pray
Some day I can repay
The hundred million kindnesses
That you have brought my way.
You are a rainbow,
A big sky full of grace
Because of you my friend,
My world's a brighter place.
