“One look at Freedom sufficiently explains the many meanings of the title. The person opens his arms wide in a timeless expression of freedom – the person on horseback is faster than on foot. The arrival of the horse on the North American continent gave freedom and mobility to the Native Americans living there at the time.

The sgraffito drawings are cubist patterns on the horse’s neck to suggest a mane. On the rider’s chest is a life spiral. Across the horse’s chest and withers are more cubist line drawings. On its flanks are dancers and hands.”
