“Creed of the Ancients”
Bill Worrell
Like you – like me
The Ancient Ones questioned
They found resolution in Nature
Like them – I find Truth in things around me.
I believe in things I cannot see
I believe in Wind
Wind that carries Clouds so Rains can fall
Wind that lifts Eagle from Earth
Wind that brings Snow
And breath of Spring.
Wind – invisible Force
That sways Prairie Grass like Waves of Sea
That bends Trees
I cannot see
But I believe.
I cannot see Water
Crystal pure clear
I see only Beauties it reflects
And things it carries to Sea
I cannot see
Yet I believe.
I cannot see Light
From right angles
But I believe
There are Stars
I cannot see
But I believe.
I cannot see Light
That surrounds Earth
In the darkness of Night
But I believe.
I cannot see Love
But I believe
I cannot see Spirits
But I believe.
I cannot see Yesterday
I cannot see Tomorrow
Yet I believe.
Small wonder we must die
To see the Face of God
Face I have not seen
But I believe.
