“Both Sides of the Fence”
by: Tammy TappanCall for price
Originally from Michigan, Tammy Tappan now lives in western North Carolina and is dedicated to the portrayal of equine subjects in bronze and paintings on canvas.
Tammy creates a modern feel within traditional art forms, inspired by the majesty of horses. Her versatility in
technique captures the animal’s emotion through fluid lines and negative space. Tammy’s ability to depict accuracy in conjunction with an impressionistic style allows viewers to feel the emotions of the horse, yet draw their own
conclusions about the narrative being presented. Within Tammy’s sculptural work she alludes to the connection between horse and rider by
incorporating tack in a non-traditional way within the work, symbolizing
communication between the two. Her work has found homes in a range of interior
decors from rustic to traditional to contemporary, and has been featured
internationally and received numerous awards in Rome, Italy and Tokyo, Japan.
