Greg English has a natural eye for light sources and believes knowing “how to blend light and shadow” is the key to drawing the observer into his paintings.
Viewing Greg’s work one would never believe that has had no formal training. His passion for detail and realism surfaces around the age of 10 as he drew and sketched everything that caught his eye.
Today, trained by experience and natural ability, Greg English’s oil paintings of Native American pottery, as well as his pencil drawings of a variety of subjects, are examples of conviction, understanding, and dedication to both interpretation and realism.
Raised in Arizona, but born in Illinois, Greg has always been exposed to art and creativity. His mother is the famed Cheryl English, and oil color artist showing in galleries throughout the Southwest, as well as numerous shows around the country and in Japan. Joel English, Greg’s father, ran his own award-winning advertising agency in Phoenix for 15 years.
In May of 1998, Greg participated in the Phippen Memorial Art Show in Prescott, AZ where he captures a 2nd place prize in “oils” and a 3rd place prize in “People’s Choice Award”.
